Side Line Scarf Knitting Pattern |
This scarf will keep you warm when you are sitting on the side lines at the game.
And, the pattern is so easy you can knit this scarf while watching the game from the side lines.
Grab some yarn in your favorite sports team's color and start knitting. You only need about 180 - 200 yards of super bulky yarn to knit up this scarf.
I love the texture of this stitch pattern. At first glance you might think is just simple garter stitch. Look again!
An easy K3, P3 repeat pattern creates a subtle striping effect. (Reminds me of the lines on the football or soccer field!)

For the ivory colored scarf, I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick super bulky weight yarn in the color 'Fisherman'.
For the gray scarf below I used Loops & Threads Cozy Wool in the color 'Stone'.

This pattern will also work well with other super bulky yarns including Lion Brand Hometown USA. I recommend solid color yarns so the texture shows best.

My daughter and I had a great time doing the photo shot for this scarf pattern. We walked to our neighborhood park on a beautiful fall afternoon.

this is so hard. I know how to purl and knit stitch (i think lol) but for some reason I am having a hard time with the second row after the first. I feel like once I get a couple of inches it is easy to see but right now its hard. I looked up some 3k 3p videos which was helpful but they all try to alternate at the end to get the indent effect. Couldnt find one where it was just repeated exactly and not alternated. Any tips?? I really like the design!
ReplyDeleteHi! Sorry to hear that you are having a bit of trouble getting in the groove on this pattern! I have another pattern (The Boulevard Blanket) that uses the same stitch pattern and I wrote a tutorial to address the most common questions about this stitch. You can access the PDF tutorial with this link: http://bit.ly/BoulevardBlanketTutorial
DeleteIf you are still having trouble with the stitch pattern after trying the tips in the tutorial....email a photo of your knitting to me at my email address in the pattern. That's the best way for me to see where you might be having trouble...or reassure you that you are on the right track! My best advice is to keep trying and it will get easier as you gain confidence. :)
